The Kawana Force capped off a trifecta of Kawana Electorate premierships on Saturday night, setting their trophy alongside that of the USC Barbarians (Rugby Union) and Kawana Dolphins (Rugby League).
Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie, was proud to watch the Kawana Force men’s soccer team claim the grand final win despite playing with the majority of the match with just ten men.
“The Force were just too classy for their opposition”, Mr Bleijie said.
“After losing last years’ grant final to the same team, it’s clear the Force had the extra motivation to come out and put on a show.
“As a spectator, it was great to watch and I am of course particularly proud to be the clubs’ Patron.”
Kawana Force’s win caps off a memorable fortnight for clubs in the Kawana electorate.
Last week, both the USC Barbarians and Kawana Dolphins won their respective grand finals, and Mr Bleijie was quick to point out the incredible achievement of the teams and clubs in his electorate.
“It demonstrates the high calibre of talent we have playing sport locally.
“I watched the Barbarians absolutely dominate their opposition and the Dolphins were equally as impressive.
“From the junior ranks to the seniors; the staff, supporters, volunteers and players of our great local clubs should all be very proud of their achievements,” he said.
Mr Bleijie has written to the President of each of the victorious clubs to congratulate them on their fantastic season.
He said whilst the players are the on-field talent, it’s important we acknowledge the off-field contributors also.
“Without the support of generous sponsors, volunteers, coaches and club members there wouldn’t be a competition to participate in.
“The growth and success of sporting clubs in the Kawana electorate is testament to the willingness of our community to get involved and support our local competitions,” Mr Bleijie said.
