Nominate a Kawana Community Champion

Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie today launched this year’s Kawana Electorate Queensland Day Community Awards.

“Now is the time to nominate Kawana’s community champions for recognition at the annual Kawana Electorate Queensland Day Community Awards,” said Mr Bleijie.

“Each day volunteers across Kawana help make a difference to the lives of others, and through these awards the community has a chance to say thanks.”

The inaugural event was held in 2009 on the back of Queensland Week, with hundreds of local community-minded volunteers recognised annually since.

“Often the hard work of our volunteers goes unnoticed but without their contribution society would suffer. This event began as a way residents could honour the many hard-working volunteers who help keep the Kawana community ticking.

“Community champions take many forms – they help those in crisis, lend a listening ear or roll up their sleeves and lend a hand to those in need,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Then there are those who champion environmental, social and community issues and stand up for our wildlife or brighten the lives of others through the arts.

“I know Kawana has many people who fit this description and I am today calling on residents to nominate them for recognition.

“Contact my office on (07) 5478 1189 or kawana@parliament.qld.gov.au for a nomination form.

“Don’t delay, fill out the form with the name and address of your nominee and a brief statement explaining why you’d like to honour your nominee,” Mr Bleijie said.

“I look forward to welcoming our unsung heroes to the Kawana Electorate Queensland Day Community Awards and joining the community in thanking them for the work they do.”
