Kawana MP Jarrod Bleijie today congratulated Pacific Lutheran College on the opening of its new $1.26 million music centre, built with the help of the Queensland Government.

“I’m delighted the Government has been able to contribute to this project, which will enrich the schooling of hundreds of current students, and many more in years to come,” Mr Bleijie said.

The State Government and the Australian Government each contributed $310,000 to the project, on top of $641,000 the school community raised to complete it.

Mr Bleijie represented Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek at the official opening.

“The Government values education as key to ensuring a brighter future for young Queenslanders, and in this music centre we have an innovative, first-class facility that supports those aims,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Music education is an important part of the school curriculum and that’s why just last week Minister Langbroek announced a $2.46 million boost to school music programs in our great state,” Mr Bleijie said.

The Pacific Lutheran College music centre features two music teaching areas, seven music practice rooms and a dance room, with the project also including storage facilities, site works, furniture and equipment.

“This facility shows what can be achieved when two levels of government come together in partnership with the community,” Mr Bleijie said.

“I salute College Principal Dr Bronwyn Dolling and the school community for their dedication in seeing this project through to fruition and raising funds to make it a reality,” Mr Bleijie said.
